Yes, I watch the news but my preference is reading. Usually when I received an invitation from dNeero it sparks an interest and I surf the internet for a more in dept view of what the conversation is about. For instance, today's invitation was a definite surf session for me. I am constantly hearing about immigration and illegal aliens all the time on the news but I wasn't aware of the proposed idea presented by Gary Becker. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know who Gary Becker was until today. Citzenship For Sale? What if the United States began charging for the legal right to immigrate? Nobel Laureate Gary Becker (University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business) came up with the idea. Becker's not trying to eject illegal workers; in fact, he said, they could pay to stay. The idea is to upend the existing black market that exacts a high price for illegal immigrants -- some who pay with their lives. Note: this is not about allowing individuals to sell their citizenship; it is about suggesting that market forces could more efficiently execute immigration policy. During my surfing journey this afternoon to learn more about Gary Becker and his views on immigration, I stumbled across his blog an his blog post entitled "Selling Illegal Residents the Right to Stay -Becker". Although, it helped me better understand his reason for suggesting the selling of citizenships, it also made me a little indecisive about how I feel about the whole Citizenships for sale. He does make some interesting points. How do you feel? Should citizenship be for sale? Do you think it will cut back on illegal immigrants? How much should immigrants pay? As a matter of fact, I actually received a double payment by mistake. When I contacted the dNeero administration about the overpayment and how they would like to handle the situation, I was told I could keep the overpayment for being honest and making them aware of a glitch in the system. Wow, I do feel appreciated and happy to be part of the dNeero family.
