I just came up with something new, cool and delicious to eat on a hot summer day. I needed to get really creative while living on a budget. It was a hot day in July, and I didn't feel like turning on the oven, or making hot pots of food on the stove. So I took out what I had left in my vegetable bin, freezer and something different and exciting that I had in my cupboard.
I want you to know you can make this Fruta Vida salad recipe more or less to taste.
Fruta Vida Salad:
10 large leaves of Romaine lettuce washed and dried.
2 carrots washed and sliced thin.
1 apple washed, cut up and sliced into small pieces.
1/4 cup of grated cheddar cheese.
4 tortillas. Each cut up into 1/8 pieces and arrange on cookie sheet.
2 oz. of soft tofu cut into small pieces.
1 packet of Fruta Vida mixed with 6 oz. of chilled water.
1/8 of a cup of Extra Lite Virgin Olive Oil.
1/8 of a cup of Red Wine Vinegar.
Add ground black pepper to taste.

In your favorite large salad bowl, cut or tear up Romaine lettuce into small pieces. Add sliced and cut carrots, apples and tofu. Toss gently. Add grated cheddar cheese on top of salad. Preheat oven to bake at 400 degrees. After the oven has preheated, put in the cookie sheet with tortillas cut into 1/8 triangle pieces and arranged so each piece is separate from the others, and bake for 8 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
When the tortilla are done and have cooled for a few minutes, arrange 1/8 pieces around the edge of the salad in the large bowl with the top of the triangle up.

Open the packet of Fruta Vida and mix 6 oz. of chilled water with 1/8 cup of extra light virgin olive oil and 1/8 cup of red wine vinegar. Pepper to taste. Shake or stir vigorously until well mixed. Add to salad and toss.
Enjoy!

One of the ingredients in Cheia Vida is Chá de Bugre. It has Has an antiviral capability.
"Research from the Department of Virology, Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University, Toyama, Japan showed that a partially purified extract (COL 1-6) from whole plant of Chá de Bugre exhibited an inhibitory effect on HSV-1 (herpes simplex virus). The activity of COL 1-6 on different steps of HSV-1 replication in HeLa cells was investigated. Under single-cycle replication conditions, COL 1-6 exerted a greater than 99.9% inhibition in virus. The extract has been shown to have a direct virucidal activity. And also, analysis of early events following infection showed that COL 1-6 affected viral penetration in HeLa cells but did not interfere with adsorption to the cells.
In 1994, continued research showed that the herpes simplex virus yield was reduced by 33% with as little as 0.25 mcg/ml and also discovered that it had toxic activity against cancer cells (demonstrating a 40% inhibition) utilizing an extract of the branches and leaves.
Dr. C.L. Cruz in his book, Dictionary of the Plants Used in Brazil, recommends chá de bugre as an excellent diuretic and weight loss aid as well as a good general heart tonic that can help stimulate circulation. It is also used in Brazil and Haiti as a tea to help relieve coughs, regulate renal function, reduce uric acid and externally to heal wounds."
I have had genital herpes for 30 years. I feel embarrased to tell you this, but I am sure I am not the only one with it. It has been bad the last year and I have had it every day since July 2007. I have black floaters on my eyes that are related to my herpes with flu like symptoms.
I just started drinking Cheia Vida Yesterday and I have noticed the black floaters are gone today. I hope it will get rid of my breakouts. It would be wonderful. The antiviral from the doctor does keep it from getting super bad, but it seems to have less of an affect lately. I am looking forward to seeing the results of it from drinking Cheia Vida. You only need to drink one or two ounces a day and when you need a boost in the afternoon.
Have a great weekend Everyone!
