Okay, I know I've mentioned this before, and you may or may not have heeded my call already, but I need more votes on this to make it to the finals. I'd really like to win, and get my idea into the hands of our next president. So, if you haven't already, please visit this web site and vote for my idea, if you agree with it. Right now I am in 5th place, and only the top three ideas will be in the running for submission to President Obama on inauguration day. Please help me out here. I think my idea is a good one that will help many people in this country.

Thank you!

Mud Slingers

Mud Slinging Seems to Work
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg

The presidential elections a wrought with smear campaigns; just look at the McCain campaign's attacks on Obama. It seems that the pigs have plenty of mud to throw at their opponent, and they have been using a rocket launcher to blast it out there. Someone needs to clean the sty.

The whole situation is ugly. Why can't politicians focus on facts and deal with the issues that really mean something to their constituents? I always thought that the best campaign was made up of, "Why you should vote for me. This is what I stand for." Not, " this is how bad the other guy is." I personally don't want to hear personal attacks, I want to hear about the issues, the principles of each candidate, and what their plan of governance is about. I don't have the desire, nor the time to dig through the mud to get at the facts. Just show me the facts, plain and simple. Tell me what you are about, if you want my vote. Sure, you can tell me how you are different from your opponent, but don't try to fill my head with half-truths, and mud. It won't get me to vote for you. What it does is make me suspicious of you. Campaigning is supposed to be about telling people about yourself and your plan.

I have been the victim of mud slinging myself, and the consequences have been quite negative. A woman who knows nothing about me and my situation, took it upon herself to write about me and tell people things that are not true. She has absolutely no idea what she is talking about, but that doesn't matter. Apparently people listened to what she had to say. Out of all the people who read her slander, only one person decided to contact me personally, and ask me about it. Just one person! In fact, I would not have been aware of the spread of these lies had it not been for that person contacting me.

How can I tell that people have been jaded by these writings? Because what had started out as a successful campaign to save my house through the sale of my book, has dried up and blown away with the wind. Since the release of her lies, I have sold but one copy of my book.

Why are people so inclined to believe what they read/hear, without bothering to check for facts? I believe that human nature dictates that we listen to negativity, in order to feel some sort of sense of being better than someone else; to feel better about one's own situation. And, the slingers of mud feed on this; they count on it to achieve their uplifting in the ranks.

Certainly the McCain campaign is using it and counting on it to sway the opinions and ultimately the votes of others. They don't care about what their misinformation could do to their target's life, they just care about winning.

So, why has this woman taken it upon herself to catapult huge quantities of mud at me? To feel better about her own life. She is jealous of the things I have that money cannot buy, as well as the things I stand to lose through the lack of money. This person has been stalking me on the Internet, following me where I go, and emulating me. Pretty scary stuff.

I know who she is and where she lives, and the fact of the matter is that she once tried to kill me. Am I afraid? You betcha! Her life, as I know it to be, is completely opposite of mine, yet she presents herself to others as if she were just like me. She has adopted my career choice, claims to have my credentials, and makes contact with those I do business with to spread lies about me.

However, the law will not protect me from this psychopath. There was a law that would have protected me, but for some reason it was repealed a year ago. What will I do? I honestly don't know. If I had the money to hire a lawyer, I could go to court and file harassment charges, but without a lawyer, no one will tell me how to file and represent myself.

What ever happened to the Golden Rule? What ever happened to honesty? What ever happened to people succeeding by way of their own merits, rather than the trashing of another's reputation? What ever happened to the common sense of the people, due dilligence?

I voted my conscience, based on the issues, not based on what one candidate had to say about the other. I urge everyone to vote based on policy, not mud. Listen to what they say about themselves, not the other guy.

I know Who My Friends Are...
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg

Gratitude In My Heart

Lately, things have not been looking so good for the citizens of this great nation, nor have then been good for my family. We are one of the many who may lose their home sweet home, since the collapse of our economy. We were doing okay, until Wall Street took a nosedive.

You see, my husband is a building contractor; a self-employed building contractor. As I said, we were doing fine until recently; but now that no one wants to spend any money, building or remodeling, he is completely out of work, and we are flat broke. I can't even go to the store to buy a gallon of milk.

Now I am not trying to be a crybaby here, there is a point to my telling you this. Really... there is.

In an attempt to save my house, I decided to figure out how many books I'd need to sell, to raise the funds we desperately need to keep this roof over our heads. I'm not talking about selling some affiliate book, but rather, the book I published myself, last year. My book can be downloaded for $5.00, and it has nothing to do with business or marketing. It is a book of prose and photographs of Colorado, where I live. I figured that if I can sell 30,000 downloads, I'll be able to keep my house out of foreclosure. (The book is available in paperback, but it is not as inexpensive as the download.)

Now, here is the point of this: I sent out a letter and posted to networking sites that I belong to, about my current dilema, asking for help. Complete strangers have come forward and offered to help me market my book. Okay, maybe not complete strangers, as these are people who belong to the same networking sites that I do, but I think you get what I'm trying to say here. And, these same people have ordered my book and told me how much they've enjoyed reading it.

I am grateful for all of those wonderful people, who have put their own interests aside, even for just a little bit, to help me sell my book and save my house. I am grateful to everyone who has opened their hearts to me. I am grateful that I have this roof over my head (for now at least), apple trees to eat from, and a hunter for a husband so that we have food to eat this winter. I am grateful for so much. Financial worries aside, I have a wonderful life; a terrific husband, two awesome kids, and I live in the most beautiful place on earth.

So, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has joined to help me, without concern as to commissions, since I cannot pay any. Also, I want to let others know where they too can find these awesome people.

Social Marketing Central

Just to name a couple... These folks are the best of the best, in my opinion. Go check them out. Their knowledge is incredible; they have much to share.

I still need to sell 29,995 more downloads, but I am more positive about reaching my goal than I was in the beginning. Thanx Guys!

It is times like these when you find out who your friends are, that's for sure.

Hey! I want to Sell You Something!
DATE: 16 Sep 2008, 2:27 pm / MOOD: Excited

At least I am honest about it. Tongue out

Do You Like Poetry?
Do you like nature?

Last year I published a book of poetry and photographs titled, My Journey, A Lifetime of Verse. I'd like to tell you about it, if you don't mind.

This book is a compilation of verse written by me, over the course of 27 years; highlighted by full color photographs, taken by my husband, of the natural beauty of southwestern Colorado.

My book is available in two formats; paperback and a download (pdf). The download is very affordable at $5.00. The paperback makes a great gift to anyone on your gift giving list.

If you are a poetry lover, or know someone who is, please visit http://trinaschiller.ws/book.html for full details on how you can get your copy today.

I thank you.

Sincerely,

Creativity and Random Thought

Random Thought
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg

How do the powers that be, determine the speed ratings for highway curves? Where do they come up with the numbers? Does someone drive them over and over again, increasing speed, until they crash? "Okay, Joe crashed at 61 mph, so this one is safe at 60 mph."

Random Thought...

Have you ever caught your mind drifting away from you, floating from one thought to the next, with no particular direction? Do you ever get to wondering about things you normally take for granted? This is what I call random thought; although many would call it day dreaming.

I live in the mountains, so a trip to town is a long drive, and when I am a passenger on such trips, random thought seems to carry me away. There is a great deal to inspire such thought on these trips. Winding roads, sheer cliffs, trees, and of course, the river.

The above random thought came to me on such a trip, and led to the writing I'm doing right this moment. Random thoughts are creative, if you go with them. They have inspired some of my poetry, professional writings, and influenced me in my decision making a time or two.

Random thought can lead to many things. In my world it leads to story lines, article content, weekend plans, business strategies; all kinds of things form in the churning. I often find direction in this directionless way of thinking.

Whomever decided that day dreaming gets you nowhere was, in my opinion, missing the point. Dream big. Walk the walk and grab ahold of it.Letting your mind wander where it will, when it will, is an avenue to creativity and if followed can lead to great things.

The next time you are in the throws of random thought, grab a piece of paper and write it down. You don't have to show it to anyone. Just write it down so it isn't lost. You never know... It could be a million dollar idea. Thoughts are things. If you can think it, you can do it, but only if you remember what it is you thought.

I keep a notebook by my bed,
To record the thoughts inside my head.
Sometimes as I drift to sleep –
Words come to me that I cannot later repeat.
Like a whisper on the breeze,
Floating away like a tease –
So I keep a notebook by the bed,
To capture the thoughts inside my head.

Quote for the day:

"Whatever you give a woman, she's going to multiply. If you give her
sperm, she'll give you a baby.

If you give her a house, she'll give you a home.

If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal.

If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart.

She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.

So - if you give her any crap, you will receive a ton of shit."

Why Is Feedback So Hard to Get?
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg

Recently, I sent out messages to just about everyone I know, asking for feedback on the newest Squidoo lens I'd created. Whereas I got many visitors to my lens, I got zilch in the feedback department. I don't understand.

There is no reason to be shy, especially if one is asked to give feedback. Even negative feedback is more desirable than none at all.

The purpose of asking for feedback, in my case anyway, is so that I can fine tune the pages I create so that they are desirable to others. Honestly, if I didn't care, I wouldn't ask. I'm sure the same goes for anyone who asks for feedback. I get email all the time from different people, asking me to take a survey related to a web site, and I go... I take the surveys, and leave my feedback, because I was asked for it.

The reason I don't send out survey invitations is pretty simple... I want to hear what people think, in their own words, not some pre-set responses I dream up. I don't care much for multiple choice responses.

So why is it that people don't want to speak their minds when given the chance? Is it because it's easier to tick radio buttons on a survey page than to type a response? Perhaps. I find radio button choices to be too impersonal, and they seldom reflect my true opinions.

The thing that really gets to me is that people have no problem spending time, searching for, or creating glittery graphics to post to my social networking profiles, but they don't seem to be able to take the time to write to me with their opinion when I ask for it.

If you don't have anything nice to say, then let's hear it! When I ask for feedback, and I'll bet this goes for others as well, I want to hear it all.. Good, Bad and Ugly. (Good is definitely nicer to read...) You can't fix it if you don't know it's broken, right? Even when I asked readers of my book for feedback, I only got two responses. How can I improve as a writer/poet, if I don't know what others think? How do I improve my web sites if I don't know what others think? I'm a writer, not a mind reader.

So why so shy? It's a mystery to me. I have people crawlin' out of the fiber optics, hitting on me, spamming me, and leaving graphics on all of my profile pages, but I can't get anyone to give me an honest answer to a simple question. "What do you think of my newest Squidoo lens?" Folks seem to enjoy giving their opinion about everything, when it's not been asked for. So what's the deal? Asking for feedback takes nothing from you, but gives something back to you, in the form of better service.

Have they ever considered that responding and putting their link in the signature line may get me to visit their site? Probably not. Or how about the positive comment that gets posted on all my pages as a testimonial, with a link to their web site?

Are people really so wrapped up in gurus and their garbage [affiliate programs] that they can't even spot an opportunity for genuinely free advertising?

Tell me what you think... I dare ya!
